Phoonk

The film I recently watched is phoonk (Hindi). It comes under horror genre. Also it is from my favorite director Ram Gopal Varma(RGV). So I watched the film with much expectation. The film has the perfect essence of RGV. Right from the start they just show the dolls and deities for every scene. All the characters in the movie were perfectly chosen especially the character of Madhu, done by Ashwini Kalsekar and The character of Rajeev by Sundeep. The kid Ahsaas Channa is so superb in the movie both in the first half and the second half. After the interval when the kid goes to school and the kid is being possessed by some powers by black magic the camera literally flies through everywhere. Even the character of the doctor has some meaning in it. Till the end of the movie the camera focuses the dolls in every scene. The character of mandar that comes at the end of the film is so disgusting. It is an essence of RGV though. Even though the climax is good there is something missing in it. Also, the screenplay is good. But it is not so scary but interesting up to a mark. Background score is good which makes us still more thrilled. Overall I give 3.5 out of 5 for phoonk.

Power cut Kills

I could not possibly do my day to day work because of the frequent power cuts that happen in almost every city. People suffer a lot. For those who belong to middle- class, it is a huge problem. With no power some shops like telephone booth, photocopy centers etc are suffering a lot. Because they cannot afford to get a battery ot generator as the large scale factories who have enough backup for power and money. Also middle class people suffer due to power cuts during un-time like 1, 2, 3 etc. They lose sleep and they never have mind to work next day. Schools, tution centers etc., have also been affected a lot. Already people know about the situation in the Indian schools. They never have proper facilities and like pouring fire on oil these power cuts have started a new problem on to them. Why these power cuts are happening? Due to lack of management of fuels, coal and power in India. Already inflation has made people a lot worried. Now these type of power cuts are added on to their worries. So the belief in the current government has reduced a lot. But, no use in fighting against the government for this.Because this should have been done a long ago. So, sick. :-(

Friday the 13th:Most disgustful movie Trilogy I have ever seen

I was wandering around the net to find some of the most successful movies so that I can download and see it. I always have a belief that the trilogies are good to watch. I came across the movie Friday the 13th. The movie has a quite good profile. There around 12 to 13 parts of the movie right from 1980 till now. So I believed it will be good to watch and it also comes under my favorite genre “horror”. I downloaded all the parts in a single breath and started watching them. I couldn’t utter anymore word. All the parts have the same storyline and there was not much thrilling secrets to be revealed either. I got headache seeing the man in the mask. Because I neither get fear nor thrill watching that thing. I don’t know how they managed to run such a disgusting trilogy till now. Except some movies in late 90s and 2000s everything are pieces of shit. I think the movie would have been somewhat successful in the box office due to the porn like scenes in almost every part of the movie. It is as if that the movie cannot be taken with those scenes on. So I recommend you people that before watching the movies please check out its imdb rating and the response in red tomatoes to avoid headache that was experienced by me.

This world is a place which is for everyone, for living happily. That’s what the God wants. Even atheists say that this world is for living happily. This may be a number 1 mokkai topic. But this is not touched by even famous writers. We must be aware of lot of selfish gooses who come in our ways. We must not give room to them to dominate us. Even this act becomes selfishness. But this never affects anybody. I have met many people who never cars for us when they are happy and prosperous. The suddenly shows us unlimited love and affection for no reason but they need something from us. It may be money, things or even the peace and happiness which we have. This is the type of world where nobody let others to fly high. If this is a competitive race nothing wrong in it. But due to lack of maturity and greedy mind many wants others to go down of them rather than try and make themselves higher. This cheap quality is with everyone. From a layman, to a ruler. The world will not relinquish but its grace is being relinquishing by people in the face of the fox. This is not a criminal offense. But this is worse than that because this cannot punishable rather than words exchanged. These kinds of people are there in the world right from the day God created man. So, only God can save.

3G in India by the middle of 2009

3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology, superseding 2G, and preceding 4G.3G technologies enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Services include wide-area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment. Additional features also include HSPA data transmission capabilities able to deliver speeds up to 14.4Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.8Mbit/s on the uplink.

These features are available in USA, UK and Japan. Now in India the Government issuing guidelines for 3G, high speed mobile downloads and live television on mobile finally becoming a reality by middle of 2009. But customers in Delhi or Mumbai may not have much to look forward to due to spectrum constraints; there are merely three Global System for Mobile (GSM) operators that can offer 3G services. With one slot already reserved for MTNL and the other two open for global bids, customers in Delhi and Mumbai may end up missing the 3G bus if they don’t switch operators.

But customers in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala could have as many as 10 operators to choose from. Subject to the availability of 3G spectrum, we will have five operators to start with and gradually we may go up to having ten operators. In Mumbai and Delhi, however, they can only have 2-3 operators.

Even private GSM operators admit that limited spectrum will lead to overbidding and could render 3G services unaffordable. If there is a supply constraint and demand excess, obviously there will be overbidding, which could make 3G very expensive in Delhi and Mumbai.

But analysts say it is unlikely that the big GSM players like Airtel and Vodafone will not bid aggressively to ensure they get 3G spectrums, primarily because most customers with an appetite for 3G are locked in the two networks.

Cuil a New Search Engine Challenges Google

Cuil is the latest search engine launched this Monday by Stanford professor Tom Costello and former Google search architect Anna Patterson with thrice the volume Google index. It is bigger, faster and better than Google's flagship search engine in pretty much every way.

Cuil is expected to search more web pages than Google and 10 times as many as the search engine of Microsoft.Where Cuil scores over Google is the way it indexes the web and handle queries by users. Both are costly operations, but Cuil claims to have found a way to slash those costs.

A search for dogs, for example, will return category results for "water dogs," "crossbreed", "cocker spaniel" and so on. Some of these related terms do not include the term "dog".

A search for "Harry" would throw up different tabs for "Harry Potter" and "Prince Harry of Wales". Further, the Harry Potter tab will provide more sub-links devoted to actors, Gryffindor dorm-mates and others associated with the series.

Its interface is so good to search and use as we see in the picture.Compared with Google's globe-spanning network of data centres, some literally set up near dams so they can tap hydro power more efficiently, Cuil's two puny data centres hosting less than 2,000 PCs total will have to run pretty fast to outpace Google's crawlers.

As a business proposition, Cuil is obviously a big bet ... No other search engine has come close to entering the public consciousness like this. Of course, Cuil doesn't have to trounce Google on day one. It took Google quite some time to surpass Alta Vista and Yahoo in the search wars.

Basic Stuff in Pointer (part-1):

Pointer is not a tough one to learn, but it is rather easy when you understand the basic stuffs involved in the pointer.

There are six things you need to know to learn the basic stuffs in pointer

Understanding the variables and computer memory:

What will happen when we declare a variable?

Compiler determines what kind of variable it is. Based on the type of variable it reserves a memory. It is very simple to understand with an example.

EG: We are going to buy a chocolate. There are varieties of chocolate with different cost. Some of them are costly and cheaper. What we will do based on our finance we buy chocolate. If we are having 10 rupees we buy chocolate for ten rupees. If we have 50 rupees we buy chocolate for 50 rupees.

Similarly if the variable type is a char it reserves one byte, if it is int 2 bytes and goes on based on the type it allocates memory in computer.

The compiler knows 4 things about a variable

• Its name
• Its type
• Its size
• Its location in memory

E.g.: int a; compiler allocates 4008344 as memory location.

Then’ a’ is variable name
‘a’ is int (Integer) type
‘a’ is 2 byte size
‘a’ is located at 400834 in memory.

Using Size of:

We can determine the size of a variable by Sizeof () operator. Actually sizeof is a function which returns the sizeof a variable.

E.g.: program demonstrating use of sizeof ()

Finding memory location with & operator

& is an operator when prefixed with a variable, it returns the location (address) of the variable.
That is why & is prefixed with a variable in name in scanf.

E.g.:

If we enter 4 as input it scans 4 and saves in the location of a allocated by compiler. To know what the address is we are using & in scanf before variable name.

When the IPV4 address scheme was introduced in 1981, there were hardly 500 computers connected to the Internet. So the address makers at that time allowed for four billion addresses, thinking they would last forever. But those address lost for only 30 years.

When the addresses are ran out, Internet speeds will drop and new connections and services (such as Internet phone calling) will either be expensive or simply impossible to obtain.The solution to the shortage is to upgrade to a new address protocol IPV6. The IETF has introduced IPv6, more than a decade ago, providing enough addresses for billions upon billions of devices as well as improving Internet phone and video calls, and possibly even helping to end e-mail spam.

The problem is that the new system is not really compatible with the Internet of today. If, for example, Google wants to support IPv6, it will need to build a whole new IPv6 web service, complete with new domain names, servers and bandwidth. Everyone needs to build a new web service for IPV6. That costs will run into billions of billions of billions...

I got back my luck:

Last one month nothing went good as I thought. Even my plans are got spoiled one way or another. I never knew that vinoth will behave like a rookie uneducated fellow for money. Ganguly threatens Bengal Cricket board

Peeved at "some people in Bengal cricket" harassing his family, particularly his brother Snehashish, former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday threatened to stop playing for the state.However, denying any fall-out with former ICC chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, who is fighting for the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) top post in the AGM on July 29, Ganguly said, "I've nothing against Dalmiya."

"I don't have any problem with him (Dalmiya) coming to power. My only concern is the problem to my family because of some CAB members. I can't tolerate this anymore. If they continue to talk bad things about my family, I'll certainly pull out from Bengal," Ganguly told reporters at his Behala residence.However, the left-hander said, this season he is "available for Bengal" who will fight it out in the Plate Division of Ranji Trophy.

However, a Bengali daily on Thursday quoted Ganguly as saying that he would stop playing for Bengal if Dalmiya comes back to power."During Dalmiya's time, I was dropped from the side and the lost the captaincy and if he again comes back to power, I'll face more difficulties. So it'll be better to leave Bengal in such a situation," Ganguly told the Bengali daily.

Inflation continues to climb, at 11.89 per cent

India's wholesale price index rose 11.89 per cent in the 12 months to June 28, above the previous week's annual rise of 11.63 per cent, government data showed on Friday.The rate was also above a median forecast of 11.75 per cent in a Reuters poll of analysts, and is the highest since annual numbers in the current series became available in April 1995.

Inflation for the week ended May 3 was revised upwards to 8.73 per cent from 7.83 per cent.The annual inflation rate was 4.42 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year.The wholesale price index is more closely watched than the consumer price index, which is published monthly, because it covers a higher number of products and is published weekly.

Infosys, TCS among most admired firms: WSJ survey

IT majors Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Wipro have emerged as the three most admired companies in India, while leading the list of most innovative firms are Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank, according to a survey of the readers of Wall Street Journal Asia.As part of its efforts to determine Asia's 200 most admired firms, the Journal Friday released the list of India's 10 most admired companies as well as top 10 innovators.

Infosys has retained its position as the most admired company since 2000, while TCS has retained its second position since the previous survey in 2006 and Wipro has moved up one position from fourth.Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel appear at No. 4 and No. 5, followed by Larsen & Toubro, ITC, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).
For innovation, Infosys, TCS and HCL Technologies are also in the top five, followed by Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications, Wipro, Satyam, M&M and Hindustan Lever (now called Hindustan Unilever).

In individual categories, Infosys led in long-term vision, Larsen & Toubro in quality, Siemens India topped in corporate reputation and State Bank of India in financial reputation.
A total of 2,477 executives and professionals participated in the survey, which was conducted last year from May 11 to July 3.

Google is Tracking its Users:

Gmail gives users a choice to keep a given machine signed into their account so that they don’t have to retype their passwords each time when they want to check their mail. But this means if we forget to log off and when we check our mail at a public computer our email may be opened for any bypasser to read.

So Google is tracking its users to increase their privacy protection. Google has a practice of recording the Internet Protocol address of every computer that connects to its service. But now Google is adding one more feature that is monitoring of IP address and other data about users. Users of Gmail will soon have a option to see which computers are logged into their accounts and can read their e-mail


Similarly, if we are an advertiser on Google, where we pay for every click that users make on our ads, we might well be glad Google keeps records of the I.P. addresses of its users. That way we have at least one tool available to help us to detect if our rival is spending his spare hours clicking away on our ads.

Journey to My Cousin Marriage (Part One):

The marriage was on 17^th may between 9 and 10:30 at Marudhamalai temple in Coimbatore. On 16^th morning my father and mother went with the bride family to Coimbatore by tempo Van. I was with my cousin (Brother of Bride) in his factory on that day.

My cousin was busy in shifting the mould in the bottle blower machine. The mould was fitted properly in the machine and started the machine. The bottle was obtained by blowing a hot preform releasing from the Owen. When he tested the bottle the bottom was weak. He changed the pressure, temperature and etc but the bottom was still weak. Old people used to say quickly done things will go wrong, same thing happened here. Since we want to reach Coimbatore soon he changed the settings of the machine quickly, but everything went vain.

At 1:30 Pm we started from the factory towards home in ALTO. We asked our uncle to buy lunch for us. We reached home by 2:30. We take bath and dressed neatly for the function. Then we took our lunch brought by uncle. Lemon Rice with a pickle and South Indian Sambhar is a great combination to eat. We finished our lunch and ready for the journey towards Coimbatore.

Two years back i have steeped into this house with my roommates raja and vinoth. We had lot fun in this room. We played in room with friends which are great fun. Fighting with house owner is our favorite time pass for not switching off motor.

IPod becomes EYEPod

Japanese has invented a new IPod which can remote control its work by the blink of eye. Taniguchi of Osaka University has inverted this IPod. When a user winks, movement in their skin is detected by sensors clipped to their glasses or headphones. This signal is sensed by the infra red sensors and it is converted to electric signal. This signal is used by the micro computer of the IPod.


The Different ways of the working of this IPod is very interesting.

We have to wink strongly for one second with one Eye to rewind.

A wink with the right eye makes the machine skip to the next tune while with a wink of the left eye it goes back.

Closing both eyes for one second starts an IPod, while blinking again stops the machine.

The system can easily differentiate a deliberate one-second wink from natural blinking. There are some people who are incapable of winking on one eye. For those, we can program the system to give a command when they blink twice in a fast sequence. So Ipod becomes EYEPod.

Why XP Users decline to Upgrade to Vista?

Vista was introduced into the market last year itself. Now they are going to release a service pack for Vista, still many XP users are not upgrading their system. Some of them say the main reason is cost. So Microsoft has reduced the price of vista home edition to $130(Rs 5000) from $160(Rs 6300). They also say many vista users say that vista upgrades have gone badly. Some of the complaints registered for Vista are

The graphics chips are not able to handle Vista’s visual special effects.

The long delays when loading.

The applications are running at low speed.

External peripheral drivers are not functioning properly with vista.

Because of these complaints only many XP users are not upgrading to Windows Vista. Anyhow in future we can see lot of vista users if Microsoft solves the existing problems in vista and satisfy its customers.

Near Field Communication or NFC is a short-range high frequency wireless communication technology which enables the exchange of data between devices over about a decimeter distance. The technology is a simple extension of the ISO 14443 proximity-card standard (contactless card, RFID) that combines the interface of a smartcard and a reader into a single device. An NFC device can communicate with both existing ISO 14443 smartcards and readers, as well as with other NFC devices, and is thereby compatible with existing contactless infrastructure already in use for public transportation and payment. NFC is primarily aimed at usage in mobile phones.

This NFC was implemented in Warangal and it is very successful and useful to the villagers. Some of its applications used in Warangal are

Gerhard Strate, a defence lawyer from Hamburg, said: “As long as the sick person is fully conscious and aware, then lending the machine to him is no more illegal than lending him a kitchen knife or a razor blade. It becomes illegal only if the potential suicide asks someone in the room to press the button for him.”

Nooyi earns 81 times more than Warren Buffet

Indra Nooyi, the India-origin CEO of beverages major PepsiCo, earns over 81 times more than the world's richest man Warren Buffett in terms of her annual pay packet, according to data compiled by executive search firm Equilar for the New York Times.Nooyi received an annual compensation to the tune of $14.74 million in 2007 as compared to just $ 0.18 million drawn by Buffett who heads Berkshire Hathway, which is into life insurance and annuity sales, among others.

Canny algorithm in my project

In my project i have to detect blood cell edges. I found it canny algorithm is very much useful to detect edges. The Canny edge detection operator was developed by John F. Canny in 1986 and uses this multi-stage algorithm to detect a wide range of edges in images.
In my project i will give blood samples as input. The image is gray scaled and subjected to canny algorithm. There are various stages in this algorithm.

Noise Reduction:

This is the first stage of algorithm. In this staged we remove unwanted pixels in the image.It uses a first derivative of Gaussian filter. After applying this filter the image is converted into a slightly blurred image. This is the 5 X 5 Gaussian filter.

Finding the intensity gradient of the image:

An edge in an image may point in a variety of directions, so the Canny algorithm uses four filters to detect horizontal, vertical and diagonal edges in the blurred image.The edge detection operator (Roberts, Prewitt, Sobel for example) returns a value for the first derivative in the horizontal direction (Gy) and the vertical direction (Gx). From this the edge gradient and direction can be determined.The edge direction angle is rounded to one of four angles representing vertical, horizontal and the two diagonals.

He was taking this as advantage to control the city. As simbhu is a ox he fight against all evils with headbut . His introduction scene was extraordinary. He was against the gravitation law by jumping out from water and standing still adjusting his dhoti in air. Now Vedika asks help from ox. This way first of is moving. At the interval Simbhu kidnaps Vedika to theni and asking police Jeeva to come to theni to take revenge. Mean while Sangeetha tries to protect Lal because she don’t want simbhu to jail by killing Lal. At this time interval arises with following punch.

Next in the second half the flashback was going in that flashback simbhu grandmother was correcting the village by killing 5 people who supplied alcohol and kanja to people. The people in the village consider her as god. Lal was arriving to the village as police officer try to put false cases on the village people and kills seema. So simbhu takes revenge on Lal and kills him at climax by transforming himself into an OX. See the transformation here.

I am a big fan of Vijay TV. I used to watch majority of programs in Vijay TV. They have given a new look to Tamil TV programs. They introduced the reality shows like Jodi No 1, Super Singer, Paadum Office, Neeya Nana and many shows. Recently they had started new program Isai Kudumbam. It was a different program with different concepts.

The program is telecasted on Sunday at 7 pm. In this program two musical families have to compete with each other in 5 rounds to step into the next round. The judge is AR Rehana sister of AR Rahman and mother of GV Prakash Kumar. The Yugendran and Malini are the compairers of the program. The two teams have their team name as Josh Fire and Cute Rhythm.

My College Life - Part 1

This part of my life is picking a college in Anna University counseling. It was 5^th day of counseling at National Institute of Technology in Trichy. Me and My father pay the 5000 rupees in the counter and went inside the counseling hall. My rank was 7420. 7421 was a girl. Her father was sitting near my father. They started discussing about the colleges. Actually they don’t know about many colleges in Tamil Nadu.

We asked them what course she was going to take in the counseling. She said she is going to take computer science. I gave her a list of colleges which is suitable for computer science course. She was keenly interested in Bannari Amman and Sairam in the list. Now it’s my turn, I was sitting in front of the computer. I have to select 3 colleges. I selected Sairam- Computer science, Hindustan- Computer Science and JPR-Mechanical.

I was keen on selecting computer science, but my father forced me to take mechanical as he was a mechanical engineer. Only 3 seats are left in Sairam and 11 seats in Hindustan. I haven’t selected a college in Coimbatore because Coimbatore is filled with my relatives in every nook and corners in the city. Red light in Sairam turned green and I selected the college. After the selection we asked that girls father which college they selected. They said they have selected Bannari Amman. Oh! Just miss I thought in mind. Thus I stepped into the Sri Sairam Engineering College.

Will orkut be Banned in India?

From today many communities has been started showing 0 members. I found the reason for this zero members.
I sure hope not, but it seems that some people were very upset about an anti-Shivaji within Orkut, causing some violence within a few areas in India.

(IBN) The Bombay High Court has asked the state government to file its reply in connection with a pleademanding a ban on social networking site, Orkut, for hosting an anti-Shivaji web community. [...]

The community had been blocked by the Pune police after violent incidents were reported in the city when its existence came to light two weeks ago. Though the community is currently inaccessible, the petitioner has demanded that Orkut, which has captured the fancy of many Indians, be banned.

I don't know much about Shivaji, ( although I do not see the value in banning all of Orkut because of a few opinions amongst the millions who surf the forums.

Orkut has proven itself quite useful as many businesses use it to employ workers, as well as people using it to find the love of their life (congrats!).

Although there are a lot of forums within Orkut that I do not agree with, (especially the anti-American ones) I do not wish for them to be removed simply because I cherish the right for all to express themselves freely without consequence.

Simply banning Orkut would not only encourage members to get around the blocks, but also be a major set back for freedom of expression in the great continent of India.
